REGARDING STUDENT EXPERT PRESENTATIONS:
Each of you have signed up to be a "Student Expert" on one
of the topics we will discuss this semester. As you might have noticed,
the number of students assigned to a topic varies. For topics with 2 students,
the team of experts will make a presentation to the class of about 1 hour
to 1 hour and 15 minutes in length. For topics with 3 or 4 students, the
team of experts will guide the class for the entire 1 hour and fourty minute
session.
Whether you are part of a 2- person team, or a 3- or 4- person team,
the assignment is the same: You will educate your fellow students, guiding
them through an authoritative overview on the assigned topic and answering
any questions they might have.
Your team may divide the time however it wishes. (With the exception
that each student must speak for at-least 15-20 minutes.)For example, a
team could make presentations in either a team-teaching format or in individual
presentations touching on different aspects of the topic. This is your
chance to experiment with approaches that you think would best suit the
topic. Of course, if a hand out or something similar would be appropriate
to aid in your teaching, feel free to distribute one! You have every opportunity
to be creative with the format of the class. The only firm rule is that
active participation of each team member is required.
Lastly, should you wish to assign additional reading to your fellow
students, you can send them an e-mail by clicking below:
