  1. Prepare forms

  2. 2-6 weeks

  3. Submit applications

  4. Wait 1-3 weeks for the receipts

  5. Receipts arrive

  6. Wait 1-3 weeks for biometric appointment notice

  7. Go for biometrics

  8. Wait 4-8 weeks for notice of decision

  9. Receive decision

  10. If approved, wait 2-4 weeks for work permit (EAD) to arrive

  11. Get Social Security number

  12. Get State ID/Driver License

  13. If working, give your employer your social security and EAD information on I-9 form

  14. Hope for DREAM Act to pass
